The shape of the roof reminds me of Gaudi's work, especially that of the Casa Battlo, but I have looked to the architectural work of Hundertwasser and applied some of that style to photocopies of my own distorted mill photos.

Burnley weavers triangle
Watercolour and ink study of a mill in Burnleys weavers triangle. This is a particularly ugly building with parts that have been obviously updated over the years.
Padiham mill pencil study
Another mill in Padiham, not sure of the name of this one but it is derelict. I am paying particulsr attention to the different types of brick/stonework in mills and also at the design of the windows.

Some pictures soon
I have recently taken the photos of my work which i intend to upload on this blog as soon as I get chance. I am currently in the middle of sorting out my first project which was based on cogs and gears and they are now turning in my head wondering how I can incorporate some of this stuff into my final project. Hopefully I will have some pictures up soon.

Mills and Plume
Hello and welcome to my blog that I will be using to showcase my Textiles design artwork.
My work is inspired by my local surroundings, (I live in the North of England surrounded by Industrial era cotton mills), as well as several artists the most notable being Antoni Gaudi.
Work in progress as well as original drawings and finished pieces will be made available to view on this blog as well as a way for pieces of my work to be purchased.
Please feel free to leave any comments and thanks for visiting
